I've been a surgical PA for 10 years. I have been here at CRSSNY for three years as their surgical physician assistant. I got my bachelor's degree in biology and physician studies at Hofstra University. I chose to become a colorectal surgery PA and to focus on that because we deal with a wide variety of illnesses as acute as a perirectal abscess to patients with ulcerative colitis and Crohn's all the way to colon cancer. And these patients, whether it's something small or large, I'm there with them through their whole journey here. So my role here at CRSSNY, I get to work with amazing physicians and we are a team. I am the liaison between patients and the doctors. The doctors are always busy running in and out of the operating room, and I'm here 24/7 to take care of any needs of the patients that need to be taken care of. I think eventually our patients become our family and my goal is to enhance the patient experience so that they feel that we care about them as we care about our own family. As a physician assistant, I want my patients to understand that I have their best interests at heart. I want them to know that I'm in constant communication with my physicians and that my goal is to make sure that they get the care they need at all times. And I take pride in that and I'm grateful to be able to do that for them. And I want them to know that they can trust me.
